On Friday 11th September, at Sunflower in Moutfort we were delighted to welcome delegates who had taken part in a conference in Luxembourg about “Diversity and Multilingualism in Early Childhood Education and Care”. Which was organised in the frame of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of Europe
Sam, Tom, Stephanie and David showed them the Bluebell classroom and explained the Montessori language materials. We had a very interesting conversation discussing how multilingual our Sunflower children are. We have 48 different nationalities in our Sunflower Crèches! 22% of our families have 2 nationalities and 53% of the children come from families where more than 1 language is spoken at home. This is a wonderful example of multilingualism and multiculturalism which we’re proud to develop and encourage in all the children.
